Piperylene is a volatile, flammable hydrocarbon consisting of a five carbon chain with two double bonds. It is obtained as a byproduct of ethylene production from crude oil, combustion of biomass, waste incineration and exhaust gases. Piperylene is used as a monomer in the manufacture of plastics, adhesives and resins.
